New MultiCam Army Combat Uniform

The Sergeant Major of the Army said the service’s new camouflage uniforms now being issued to troops deploying to Afghanistan will make Soldiers safer and help make them more stealthy than the current Army-wide camo.

Media: Natick Labs practices real-time response to fake terror attack

NATICK — Before being interrupted by a real-life emergency situation, yesterday’s counter-terrorism exercise at the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center was going well, officials said.

The military complex, also known as the Natick Labs, played host to a simulated terrorist plot meant to test the Army’s counter-terrorism response. “Operation Lasting Calm,” as the exercise was called, introduced a scenario in which terrorists detonated bombs at points across the base, took hostages and traded gunfire with police.

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — Soldiers are eating better with help from new technologies. That was the message Army scientists delivered to the Army’s civilian leader during a visit to research and development facilities here March 15.

Secretary of the Army John McHugh listened to U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command’s Soldier systems center representatives discuss new advances in food technology.

Natick develops new cammo pattern for wear in Afghanistan

Soldiers to get new cammo pattern for wear in Afghanistan
The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command tested different uniform patterns at its Natick research center. Officials said the new uniform will provide our Soldiers the best possible cover in battle. Starting this summer, Soldiers sent to fight in Afghanistan will wear an Army Combat Uniform with the new “MultiCam” pattern instead of the standard-issue universal camouflage pattern.
