ORLANDO, Fla. — Training the American Warfighter in the digital age in the midst of substantial budget constraints was among topics discussed at the 10th annual TechNet-Orlando Conference here today.

The panel was led by Maj. Gen. Nick Justice, commanding general, U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, and consisted of members of the military’s training and evaluation community. The conference brings together senior members of military, industry and academia in the fields of command, control, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance – known as C4ISR.

Army reviews acquisition process

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. — The Army is taking a critical look at how it acquires and manages equipment and services. A team from the Army Acquisition Review visited here Sept. 28, touring facilities and interviewing military officials.

Secretary of the Army John M. McHugh commissioned the review in May. The team is a panel of experts, co-chaired by former Army Acquisition Executive Gil Decker and former Army Materiel Command Commanding General Gen. (Ret.) Lou Wagner. The panel is empowered to seek answers and offer solutions after four months of exhaustive interviews and studies.

The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command leadership spoke with Decker and his team as they toured Army Research Laboratory facilities at APG.

APG Commander briefs acquisition officers

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. — Aberdeen Proving Ground’s senior leader talked with Army acquisition officers Aug. 30 at the at the Top of the Bay Club.

Major Gen. Nick Justice, Research Development and Engineering Command and Aberdeen Proving Ground commanding general is also the Senior Regional Acquisition Official. The commander discussed the regionalization process and his role as the Senior Regional Acquisition Officer.

The information session was open to all acquisition officers on APG and their supervisors, both civilian and military. This briefing was mandatory for all acquisition officers in the grades of captain and major who are involved in the regional process.

Justice is dedicated to sound financial management and developing timely products.

“We must focus on developing and executing a balanced portfolio of resources and maximize delivery of capabilities,” Justice said. “This is critical as we deliver timely, innovative, integrated solutions to modernize the Army.”
